Anti-drone activists from around the country paid a visit to Senator Chuck Schumer’s office today to protest drone strikes in the Mideast, plastering pictures of drone victims on the office doors. They contend that unmanned aerial vehicles or drones kill innocent civilians and terrorize people living in targeted areas in Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Four among the group were arrested for refusing to leave.
Their visit follows a weekend “summit” on drones at the Georgetown Law Center hosted by CODEPINK, Institute for Policy Studies, The Nation magazine and others.
Rep. Alan Grayson has called a Congressional briefing on November 19 to hear a delegation from Yemen testify about the traumatic impact of drone bombing on their country. The briefing is 4pm in Rayburn Office Bldg Room 2456.
