Actor/activist Daryl Hannah stood in solidarity with the Cowboy Indian Alliance at Reject and Protect on April 26, 2014.
Hannah has been dedicated to stopping the Keystone XL pipeline, getting arrested at several civil disobedience actions. In this interview she explains why blocking the tar sands pipeline is vital.
“Our priorities must be life over profits or we have no hope. We don’t want delays, we want outright rejection of the pipeline, and we don’t want expansion of the tar sands. This project makes absolutely no sense. It’s a death knell, something that we cannot allow to pass. And not only will it be violating our very basic life support system, but it will also be violating treaty rights as well.
“The wealthiest industry in the history of money is still making record profits even in this environment. So people are saying, stop, we are drawing a line in the tar sands. We will not let this pass.”
